Elementary Showcase

Family Reading Fest

Every year, at Lynchburg Elementary, I chaired the committee for an annual family event, centered around literacy and fun. I worked with teachers to create classroom games and activities to promote reading.

Lunchtime Book Clubs

I worked with the local public library to offer lunchtime book clubs as a 4th and 5th grade enrichment program.

Standards Based Instruction

I taught standards based instruction related to reading, writing and research skills K-6th grade. In this photo students are working on a project that required them to research a country and then write a letter to a friend as though they were visiting that country, then cite their sources.

6th grade living museum

I collaborated with 6th grade teachers to create a living ancient history museum. The lessons leading up to this fun final project covered language arts, history and library skills. Parents and younger students were able to see student's presentations during an evening event.

Girl Scout Leader

From 2014 through 2017 I was a Girl Scout Troop Leader. Our Troop 461 welcomed girls at multiple levels from 1st through 6th grade.

Accelerated Reader

I planned and hosted rewards parties and activities from the library for students who met their AR goal. I worked closely with our school's reading specialist to create and analyze reports in AR in order to help classroom teachers achieve student growth in reading.
